Technology and Workforce Support: Kamper Accountants Case Study

Prior to 2020, we were using Microsoft Office for basic functions only. Suddenly our team were forced into working from home, and this was the catalyst for us to explore the full range of Microsoft’s remote functions. How could our workforce stay connected, up-to-date and productive during such trying times?

Like most firms, we were already on a cloud technology journey, it has just been accelerated, and we’ve been forced to engage and focus on our business and our customers like never before. In a post-COVID world, every business will need to find new ways to stay relevant and profitable.

We knew we already had the right people, processes and technology and we think our customers do also – we just hadn’t realised the potential.

With social distancing forcing our traditional firm’s workforce to stay home, time was spent analysing and unpacking the available tools we were already paying for, Microsoft 365 and the “Modern Workplace” application suite jumped out straight away as the core tool to change how we do business. This was all based around collaboration and performance management.

Finding solutions and smarter ways to work
Now we routinely use the full suite of Microsoft applications. It doesn’t matter where our people are located – in the office, at home, on the road – we can all stay in the loop. Now we collaborate, track workflow, manage tasks and prioritise more productively, messaging the right team members with the right information.

We also get maximum value from the software we are already paying for, understanding and leveraging its full capability. Technology is only as effective as the people who use it. With all our workers on the same page, it’s far easier to optimise our resources.

The benefits are clear. Nothing gets lost or overlooked. Our staff are more engaged. Our business is more visible. Our overall performance is enhanced. We take advantage of advanced security, smarter device management, real-person support and a genuinely cost-effective remote workforce. It’s also easier to communicate directly with customers.

The Kamper business has been running for more than 40 years, yet never more efficiently than now. Our internal communications have been transformed. We use online chats, messaging and meetings to stay in touch and make faster, more inclusive decisions. Secure video sharing and choice of full, small group or private meetings enhances flexibility. We enjoy increased productivity and transparency, knowing we’re all working on the same thing. Our plan, audit and review functions are centralised. The way we work finally makes sense.

Bringing it all together with hammerjack

Fortunately for us, the hammerjack team already had experience and understood what we were trying to achieve in what was now such a short period of time.

hammerjack was able to work and support us to show how the technology we already had and were paying for could serve as a truly integrated cloud solution. By connecting and streamlining multiple people, work areas and applications, we could bring our workflows, processes, and our remarkable people together in a cohesive way.
