Payroll Specialists (AST0002)

The Payroll Specialist processes payroll, ensures compliance with regulations, and maintains accurate records. This role also handles deductions, benefits, and resolves payroll-related inquiries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll Processing:

  • Administer end-to-end weekly payroll processing for multiple clients within Xero, Deputy, Employment Hero, or like
  • Process new hires, terminations, and changes to employee information.
  • Processing of out-cycle pay runs.
  • Month-end and year-end payroll tax reconciliations.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and ensuring we comply with all federal and state regulations, including PAYG, Superannuation
  • STP Reporting and Payroll Tax.

Award Interpretation:

  • Interpret and apply relevant awards, agreements, and legislation to ensure compliance (multiple awards).
  • Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to awards and employee entitlements.

System Management

  • Maintain and update payroll data within the system.
  • Generate and review payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.

Excel and Data Management

  • Utilize intermediate Excel skills to manage and analyze payroll data, prepare and lodge annual WGEA reports, and monthly payroll tax and provide insightful reports to Senior Management on a monthly basis and when required.
  • Perform data validation and integrity checks.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with legal requirements.

Communication Support:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll-related inquiries.
  • Provide support and assistance to employees regarding payroll issues and concerns.
  • Collaborate with National Operations and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.


QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Extensive payroll experience for Australian employees
  • Experience working with Xero, Deputy, Employment Hero, or other similar payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply various awards and agreements.
  • Have the mindset of continual improvement

Skills:

  • Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, perform calculations, and analyze data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll information.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in payroll or accounting are preferred.
