Sharm, Bookkeeper and Changemaker: Leading with Heart Through #MoreThanJustWork

When people talk about making a difference at work, it often circles around KPIs, outcomes, and productivity. But for Sharm, one of hammerjack’s dedicated bookkeepers, making a difference recently meant something else entirely—one filled with crayons, laughter, and wide-eyed smiles from students at Holy Family Village Elementary School in Porac, Pampanga.

Sharm played a key role in introducing Project Bente’s Bags of Joy program to hammerjack. The initiative, a school supply donation drive for students in underserved communities, began for her as a volunteer commitment outside of work. It soon became something more.

“Since becoming a volunteer with Project Bente, I’ve seen firsthand the impact the Bags of Joy program has on kids and communities. It felt like something truly meaningful that I wanted to share.”

That moment came during a casual coffee chat with Country Manager Rocky Layno. Their conversation led to what would soon become a meaningful extension of hammerjack’s ongoing #MoreThanJustWork campaign. Sharm’s vision aligned perfectly with the company’s values—an opportunity to turn care into action.

hammerjack team members rallied behind the cause, using their volunteer credits and personal time to support the initiative.

“It was truly heartwarming. Seeing people you work with every day step up and give their time, effort, and even just words of encouragement—it made me feel proud to be part of this team.”

During the school visit, volunteers didn’t just hand over bags filled with supplies—they stayed to connect. The team spent time playing games, sharing stories, and simply being present with the kids.

For Sharm, this initiative brought new meaning to what #MoreThanJustWork stands for:

“It reminded me that we’re not just here to clock in and out—we’re part of a community. We can make a difference, not just for each other, but for people outside these office walls too. That’s something special”
